Touring 101

Well we have been into touring as of late. Its is not accident as my wife brother just completed a ride from Portland to Portland west to east having done Portland to Portland east to west the year before. So we were of course inspired. So for our first "tour we packed up and went to Arlington VT to do a little riding. Here is camp pictured above. Nice campground right on the Battenkill River.

New Soma

New Bike Soma smoothie. By Soma fabricators out of San Fransisco. Steel frame weighs in around 18 lbs.

We did 50 miles on Saturday and 20 on Sunday. This is the model of bike I just bought. I will get a pic up of mine soon.

Rain

I have just turned a little over 800 miles on the Bionx and its been fun. Now if we can just get it to stop raining!

This is why they call it Falls Rd. There are two houses right next to the falls and the CT river is across the road. Nice place to say the least. This is my favorite section because there is so little traffic. Its amazing how noisy Rt 116 can be...

Then wave of a warm front that is. It was 45 when I left home this AM and even though the clocks have changed there should be enough light to get home.

Cold

Way Cold. It was 25 when I left the house today in the dark. My fingers are still sensitive from the freezing they got on the ride in. I guess and digits or appendages sticking out need some extra insulation. You guys know what I am talking about.....

I saw an Otter on the way in along the river that was cool...

Day two

Nice day started- riding in the rain. I wasn't to bad a little chilly but that soon left me . The ride along Old Sunderland road was full of wildlife this AM two deer on a side path looked at me as I sped by. I turned around an they didn't really seem to care and went back to eating. Also I had to ride through a flock of turkeys. They were in the road and scattered, after I pretty much rode through them. No one must hunt in this area of Montague center or the animals have the hunting season dates memorized.

1st Ride

I rode into work yesterday 44 miles round trip. Its a great trip but talk about tired legs. Part of the trip the nice part is along the CT river.

What the Heck is an E Bike

I just purchased a Bionx pl-350 you can see a description of the system here. The music is bad but the system is pretty cool.
